Credit card processing
fee calculator.
Put your processing costs in perspective. Estimate monthly fees, see your effective rate, and understand what’s behind the total.
Your numbers.
A clearer picture.
Start with your numbers.
These starting values are an example, not a NUMUS quote. Replace them with your own figures.
- Percentage fees
- $1,450.00
- Per-payment fees
- $300.00
- Monthly fees
- $0.00
- Monthly card sales
- $50,000.00
- Sales less modeled fees
- $48,250.00
- Estimated annual feesIf every month is the same
- $21,000.00
Your modeled fees exceed card sales. Check your inputs; negative amounts are shown as entered.

How to use the fee calculator.
A recent processing statement and your pricing agreement are useful places to start.
- 01
Measure your sales.
Enter your successful monthly card-payment count. Divide the corresponding gross card sales by that count to find the average payment amount.
- 02
Add your fee structure.
Enter the percentage and fixed charge per payment, then add flat monthly charges. Use your written pricing terms and avoid counting the same fee twice.
- 03
Read the full picture.
Compare monthly fees and the effective rate, then change one input at a time. Smaller average payments can make a fixed transaction fee more significant.
A rate is only
part of the story.
With 1,000 payments averaging $50, a modeled fee of 2.90% + $0.30 and no additional monthly charge:
Illustrative arithmetic. These are not advertised NUMUS rates.
- Monthly card sales 1,000 × $50
- $50,000
- Percentage fees 1,000 × ($50 × 2.90%)
- $1,450
- Fixed fees 1,000 × $0.30
- $300
- Monthly fees $1,750 ÷ $50,000 = 3.50% effective rate
- $1,750

How the math works
For each modeled payment, the calculator multiplies the average payment by the percentage rate and rounds half up to the nearest cent. It multiplies that charge and the fixed per-payment fee by your payment count, then adds the monthly charge once.
Effective rate = total modeled fees ÷ gross card sales × 100. Annual fees are the monthly estimate multiplied by 12. All amounts are in USD; fees and the effective rate are displayed to two decimal places.
What the estimate includes
Only the charges you enter. It treats every payment as the same average amount. Actual transaction sizes, fee schedules, card mix and rounding methods can produce a different result. Interchange-plus and tiered pricing need more detail than a single percentage; entering only a processor’s markup will understate the full cost.
Refunds, disputes, international charges, currency conversion, equipment, taxes and other pass-through charges are excluded unless reflected in your inputs. “Sales less modeled fees” is not your settlement balance: it does not account for reserves, refunds or funding timing.

Before you compare.
Is the effective rate the same as my quoted percentage?
Not necessarily. This calculator’s effective rate includes the percentage charge, fixed per-payment fees and monthly fees you enter. A quoted percentage may cover only one part of your cost. Check your agreement and read the full processing statement.
Can I compare two processing offers?
Yes, when both can be represented by these inputs. Keep payment count and average payment the same, record the first estimate, then enter the second offer’s fees. Check contract terms, excluded charges, reserves and service requirements separately. A single-rate estimate cannot reproduce every interchange-plus or tiered schedule.
Does NUMUS receive the numbers I enter here?
No. The calculator runs in your browser. Calculator inputs are not sent to NUMUS or included in your processing-review form. If you request a review, the information you enter in that separate form is submitted to our team.
Is this a quote for my business?
No. The values are an illustrative starting point. Your actual pricing and eligibility depend on your business, underwriting and written account terms. Request a processing review to start that conversation.
